A Reconquista de Olivenza is the latest show that gathers the playwriter and director Ricardo Neves-Neves and the pianist and composer Filipe Raposo, after Banda Sonora. The history of Olivenza, a small part of Alentejo, in portuguese territory, occupied by Spain in 1801 is told on stage through a fanciful exercise on Power and Politics, armed with loads of humour and very little nacionalism… A comedy, under the command of seven chrystal balls and where we can’t miss a materialistc-reductionist Queen Mother of Portugal, a prophetic flying dragon, twin heirs, the Caliph´s cream stuffed beignets, spanish princes, a special chinese envoy, Mary Poppins and even tarot reading Holy Mothers. As said in the play: “bring out the cannons, the bayonets, the crossbows. We are departing! Lets all cross the 25th of April’s Bridge, travel through Alentejo till Olivenza”.
