Biography

Ricardo Neves-Neves (Quarteira, 1985), has a degree in Theater-Actors by the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema and he is a Specialist in Theater Studies by the Faculdade de Letras, in Lisbon. Attends the Obrador d’Estíu-Dramaturgia (Barcelona), under orientation of Simon Stephens.

He's the artistic director of the Teatro do Eléctrico, where he writes and directs.

He also directed works by Adília Lopes, Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, Gil Vicente, Ana Lázaro, Guilherme Gomes, William Shakespeare, Lewis Carroll, Edward Albee, Karl Valentin, Copi, Spiro Scimone, Charles Dickens, Martin Crimp, Robert Icke, Ivan Calbérac, Matthieu Delaporte, Alexandre de la Patellière, Gilles Dyrek, Sue Fabisch, Marshall Brickman, Rick Elice / Andrew Lippa, J.J. Rousseau, W.A. Mozart, Gervásio Lobato, Augusto Machado, Pedro Mexia and Nuno Côrte-Real.

His plays were directed by Mónica Garnel, Sandra Faleiro, Ana Lázaro, Paula Sousa, João André, Diogo Freitas, Joana Magalhães, Fábio Pinto and André Albuquerque.

He is the author and co-director of Floating Island with Cheng‑Ting Chen and Yi‑Ting Hung, co-produced by Théâtre de la Ville (Paris, France) and Taipei Arts Festival (Taipei, Taiwan).

He has published works with the following publishers: Artistas Unidos / Cotovia / Snob, Teatro Nacional D. Maria II / Bicho do Mato, Companhia das Ilhas, Edições Húmus and Teatro da Terra. The plays have been translated into English, French, Catalan and Chinese.

He taught the subject of Interpretation at Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, at ACT – Escola de Actores and Escola Profissional de Teatro de Cascais.
