What adventure could possibly intersect the fates of Hitler, Our Lady, and mythical figures from Portuguese cinema of the 1930s and 1940s?
Reinvented in a text by Ricardo Neves-Neves, in an exercise of humorous imagination, drawing on quotations from everyone’s imagination, – Oh inclemency, oh martyrdom – they star in a greater adventure. Guided by a higher spirit – a Our Lady who only speaks Spanish – they embark on a missionary journey from the parish of Costa do Castelo to Berlin. To serve humanity, they must overthrow Hitler.
Bound by this greater goal, traveling together in an ultramodern, supersonic machine, but endowed with a down-to-earth spirit, these unlikely heroes aim to become the liberating heroes of a Europe subjugated by the dictator. Like D-Day, these figures from the big screen embark on a spectacular plan to change the course of history, accompanied by hilarious dialogue and musical themes from those films that we still hum to this day.
Will one thing be enough? Nor will you, old carcass, escape my hatred to fulfill the mission entrusted to you?
