Press Release

Boris is a talkative Bull Terrier whose friend – his best friend, in fact – is a girl named Camila. It was through her that he learned that some things aren’t expressed with the mouth, but can manifest elsewhere. For instance, when we’re nervous, we might fidget with our feet; when we’re afraid, the hair on the back of our necks stands on end; and when we’re embarrassed, we blush. Except for dogs – dogs don’t blush.
Boris, who knows Camila better than anyone, realizes she is experiencing a whole host of strange emotions because she’s about to change schools. As he tries to help his best friend cope with the fear, embarrassment and nervousness of starting at a new school – where she’ll have to make new friends – Boris talks to the audience about the meaning of friendship, courage and empathy. Through laughter and reflection, this philosopher-dog prompts us to think about the emotions we hide and those we choose to share. It is a tender, amusing story about growing up, accepting one’s own vulnerabilities and realizing that, sometimes, friends can help us navigate life’s various transitions – both big and small.
